Special Needs Dog Requires Orthopedic Surgery
May 1, 2022 – Grayling, Michigan: Frieda is a four-year-old bulldog mix who’s stolen the hearts of everyone at AuSable Valley Animal Shelter. Picked up as a stray in late 2021, Frieda needs critical surgery on both back legs to allow her to live the wonderful life she deserves. Without surgery, Frieda’s life will be one of constant discomfort and pain.
On top of that, Frieda is deaf…a condition she was most likely born with. This hasn’t seemed to affect her good nature and loving disposition, and Frieda has adapted well to hand commands (and visual treat stimulation!).
On June 1, 2022, Frieda will undergo surgery at Michigan State University’s Small Animal Hospital in Lansing, Michigan. Cost of this much-needed medical procedure is estimated at $10,000.
On April 12, AuSable Valley Animal Shelter launched a GoFund Me page with a short (2:30) video and more information. Thanks to the generosity of donors, we’re over 50% of our goal…so our work for Frieda continues.
Members of the media are invited to meet Frieda in person or via live video conference. Call or email at any time.
And THANK YOU for your help!
